The role of 'England and Anglicanism in the history of modern Catholicism and bioethics ... The Pope

King Henry VIII's infamous ...

Queen Elizabeth I bloody ..

John Henry Cardinal Newman was created May 12, 1879 by Leo XIII. For the assignment of the cardinal's hat, Newman wrote what is known to history as the "Business Speech" an amazing poster of Western civilization, a perfect X-ray of secularizing culture and mentality, where it was identified apostasy.
------------------------------------------ ------
recent article on religious freedom from the message for World Day of Peace by His Holiness Benedict XVI:

I urge, then, men and women good will to renew its commitment to build a world where all are free to practice their own religion or belief. This doctrine is contrary the "Syllabus of Errors" of Pope Pius IX ... The man is not free to profess a faith that does not save the soul.

---------------------------------------------- ---

"Thank you, Excellency, for participation in the high honor that the Holy Father has deigned to confer upon my humble person [words of Newman in Italian], and if I ask permission to continue my speech is not in your language so musical, but in my beloved mother tongue, this is because I can better express what I hear the announcement that she told me. Let me begin by expressing astonishment and deep gratitude that I felt and still feel magnanimity and love for the Holy Father for having chosen to such a huge honor. It was really a big surprise. It had never occurred to me to be worthy of it and it seemed so at odds with the story of my life. I had to go through many trials, but now approaching the end of everything, I felt at peace. However, is it not possible that I have lived so many years just to see this day? Difficult even to think how I could deal with such an emotion if the Holy Father had not made a further gesture of generosity towards me, showing another side of his nature full of finesse and bontà.Egli sensed my confusion and wanted to explain why I had raised a great honor. Along with words of encouragement, told me that his decision was a recognition of my zeal and service that I had made for many years the Catholic Church, moreover, he was sure that the English Catholics, and even Protestant England would have welcomed the that I received a sign of his favor. After these kind words of His Holiness, I was just insensitive and ungrateful if I had still some hesitation. This he took care to tell me and what I want? In my long life I have committed many mistakes. I have nothing of that sublime perfection that is found in the writings of the saints, that is the absolute absence of errors. But what I think I can say about everything I wrote is this: my good intentions, the lack of personal purposes, the sense of obedience, a willingness to be corrected, the fear of making mistakes, the desire to serve the Holy Church, and only for God's mercy, some successo.E I am pleased to be able to add that I opposed from the start to a great disaster. For thirty, forty, fifty years I tried to fight with all my strength, the spirit of liberalism in religion. Never has the Holy Church has had the greatest need of someone who was opposed to more than today, when, alas! now this is a bug which stretches like a death trap on the whole earth, and on this occasion, so great for me, when it is natural for me to extend his eyes to the world, the Holy Church and its future, I hope it will not be considered unfortunate that I renew that sentence so often that I have already spoken. Liberalism in religion is the doctrine that there is no positive truth in religion, but a creed is as good as another, and this is a belief that every day acquires more credence and strength. It is against any recognition of a religion as true. It teaches that all must be tolerated, because all it is a matter of opinion. Revealed religion is not a truth, but a sentiment and a personal preference, not an objective fact or a miracle, and it is a right of every individual to make it say whatever strikes his fancy most.
Devotion is not necessarily founded on faith. You may attend the Protestant churches and Catholic Churches, both sit at the table and do not belong to any. You can fraternize and have spiritual thoughts and feelings in common, without even addressing the problem of a common doctrine or feel the need. Since then, religion is a characteristic so personal and so private a property, you should definitely ignore the relationships between people. If one changed religion every morning, what should you care? Investigate the religion of another is no less indiscreet that investigate its economic resources or their family life. Religion is not a glue of society. So far, the civil power was a Christian. Even in nations separated by the Church, as in mine, when I was young still worth the saying: "Christianity is the law of the country." Now this civil structure of society, which has been the creation of Christianity, is rejecting Christianity. That, and many others that followed, has disappeared or is disappearing, and by the end of the century, unless God intervenes, it will be forgotten. Until now it was thought that enough religion with its supernatural sanctions to ensure law and order to our population, now philosophers and politicians tend to solve this problem without the aid of Christianity. In place of authority and teaching of the Church, they claim first wholly secular education, designed to make it clear to every individual who ordered, industrious and sober back to his own advantage. Then they provide the major principles that must replace religion and the masses so that educators should follow the fundamental ethical truths in their broadest sense, justice, benevolence, honesty, etc..; experience and the natural laws that exist and act spontaneously in society and in social, physical and psychological, for example, in government, commerce, finance, health and the relations between nations. As for religion, it is a private luxury that one can afford, if you like, but obviously has to pay, and that it can not impose on others or practicing
annoy him. The general characteristics of this great apostasy are the same everywhere, but the details vary among countries. I will speak of my country because I know him better. I fear that it will have a large following here, even if you can not imagine how it will end. At first glance you might think that the British are too religious for a way of thinking that the rest of Europe appears to be based on atheism, but our misfortune is that, although, as elsewhere, leads to atheism, it is not born here necessarily atheism. It should be remembered that the religious sects, which appeared in England three centuries ago and today is so strong, they are fiercely opposed to the union of church and state and would like to de-Christianization of the monarchy and all its apparatus, arguing that such a catastrophe would make Christianity purer and stronger. The principle of liberalism, then, there arises under the same circumstances. Consider the consequences of all these sètte.Con all probability they represent the religion of half the population, and let's not forget that our government is a democracy. It is as if a dozen people at random on the street and they certainly have their share of power, they were up to seven religions diverse.Ora how they can find consensus for action on the local or national level when each is fighting for the recognition of one's religious denomination? Any decision would be blocked, unless the topic of religion is not entirely ignored. There's nothing else to do. And third, do not forget that in liberal thought there is much good and true, just mention, for example, the principles of justice, honesty, sobriety, self-control, kindness, as I noted above, are among its main principles are proclaimed and the natural laws of society. It is only when we realize that this bell'elenco diprincìpi is to set aside and completely erase the religion, we are forced to condemn liberalism. Indeed, there was never a plan of the enemy so cleverly engineered and greatest chance of success. And in fact, it is largely achieving its goals, attracting large numbers of men in their ranks capable, serious and honest, the elderly estimated, with long experience, and young beautiful speranze.Ecco how things are in England, and it is good that all we realize it, but I absolutely do not think he is scared. Of course I'm disappointed, because I think it could be detrimental to many souls, but I'm not afraid at all that it has the capability to prevent the victory of the Word of God, the Holy Church, our Almighty King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Faithful and True, and his Vicar on earth. Too often, Christianity is now found in what appeared to be a mortal danger, because now we have to scare the face of this new test. This is absolutely certain, but what is uncertain, and in these major challenges it usually is, and is usually a big surprise for everyone, is the way in which from time to time Providence protects and saves his elect. Sometimes the enemy becomes a friend, sometimes is stripped of its virulence and aggressiveness, sometimes it falls apart by itself, sometimes rages as required, to our advantage, then disappears. Normally, the Church must not do anything but continue to do what needs to be done, confidence and peace, be quiet and wait for the salvation of God "Gi meek shall inherit the earth and enjoy great peace" (Ps 37.11) . Mansueti hereditabunt Terram, Et delectabuntur pacis in multitude. "

«In questi cinquant’anni ho pensato che si stiano avvicinando tempi di diffusa infedeltà, e durante questi water year, in fact, have increased as those of a diluvio.Prevedo time after my death, in which you can only see the tops of the mountains, like islands in a vast sea. I refer mainly to the Protestant world, but the Catholic leaders will embark on major initiatives and achieve worthwhile goals, and will need much wisdom and great courage, if the Holy Church must be free of this terrible disaster, and although it falls on any test with her was only temporary, can be exceedingly harsh in its course "(Marín JM, John Henry Newman.'s life (1801-1890), Jaca Book, Milan, 1998, p. 417).

Pope
The Church is deeply tied to the person who is the foundation and that first to the task of transmitting the faith: the Holy Father. The Pope's role is so important that, according to St. Thomas, the mystery of iniquity of which Saint Paul speaks, alluding to the coming of the Antichrist, will not show until there is one who holds a and this person is Catholic Church with his boss, the Sovereign Pontiff 2 .
It was he who said: "We, well more than any other, we have the cult of man" 3 ! Under his pontificate was the dramatic change that transformed the liturgy of Catholic Mass in a Protestant ceremony in flavor, used by the pastors themselves to celebrate their dinner 4.
John Paul II set out the council in the application of his pontificate, in the light of ecumenism, which culminated with the meeting of representatives of all religions to Assisi, October 30, 1986. In the same line lies the papacy of Benedict XVI.
Alcuni, considerando i gravi errori contro la fede insegnati in maniera esplicita o tramite le loro attitudini da tali pontefici giungono to say that they can not identify with the Vicar of Christ. A pope who is not acting normally for the good of the Church fulfilling its primary function of transmitting and keep the faith can not be the Vicar of Christ. According to this theory for years, the Church would have no visible head and any authority since popes, cardinals and bishops have all lost faith.
This way of thinking, especially when it is imposed as a new dogma of faith, instead of solving them puts insurmountable theological problems, notably on the divine and supernatural structure of the Church which can never be less because the beneficiary of the promise of the Savior: "The gates of hell shall not prevail against it " 5. Now the power of jurisdiction, namely government, is a constituent part of the Church and it will never be quite totally private. Another attitude is to take that Catholics formed in the traditional doctrine that even in the face of statements and actions clearly contrary to the faith, do not ever allow to detect the contradiction, but say nothing or try to justify at all costs, claims This compared to the Pope for what he represents, for fear of doing an injustice to his person, the Church or to a false understanding of what the papal infallibility. Such
way of acting is just as dangerous as, especially if you have teaching responsibilities, we should warn the faithful against the errors that can threaten the faith, especially when they are most harmful because preached by those in authority and mission teach the truth. The true Catholic attitude, which is taught by the whole tradition, is to preserve respect for authority, but at the same time, for the sake of justice for the faithful and of charity toward the one who errs, even if it is a superior, to denounce all that is in conflict with the faith and taught consistently defined. This, and not the defense di opinioni personali, è il criterio oggettivo a cui ogni cattolico deve conformare la propria vita.
« Mi opposi a lui a viso aperto perché evidentemente aveva torto » 7 .
Ciò permette di capire such as teaching or behavior of one who would confirm the faith, can sometimes be shaky or even in conflict with the faith 11.
The First Vatican Council, stating the conditions under which the Pope enjoys the charism of infallibility, it leaves open the possibility that outside of this divine assistance, there is the possibility of error. At the time of publication of his Jesus of Nazareth , Benedict XVI wrote in the preface: "Everyone is free to contradict me." His last book, Light of the World , is an 'interview and does not relate to the Magisterium.
Lefebvre, after one of his trips to Rome, stressing this point, we said that the Pope himself does not believe in his infallibility.
Even in the current situation we must have a deep faith in the divinity of the Church, in spite of his humanity that manifests itself dramatically in the person of the popes who have directed the last council. The rebirth of the Church of Rome and the Pope is why the first thought of every Catholic who loves the tradition must be in prayer today for the Vicar of Christ, for it to again "confirm his brethren" as Jesus said to St. Peter after him prophesied its triple denial 13. But this return and more than ever it is imperative to publicly denounce all that, but coming from Rome and the Pope is opposed to the faith that even the Pope will ever change.
