All creative expressions are compared with the great ideals and events of history, themselves becoming sources of inspiration for any art form. The art as a universal means of communication and relationship itself embodies the very principle of freedom, it is therefore proposed as a unique vehicle for ideas that can build lines of thought and knowledge. Art and Resistance which leaves them in a natural common ground, made up of values, principles and action, yesterday, today and always unique experience of freedom.

In the renewed spirit of commitment to the values expressed by the resistance on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Liberation, the Total Arts Association under the patronage of: Regione Piemonte, Provincia Turin, the City of Settimo Torinese, the City of Turin, the Museum of the Resistance and the ECM Foundation, promotes the fourth edition of the Biennale of Visual Arts " Resistant Materials."

Continuing the principles and goals that have animated and characterized its predecessors, will be replicated through some languages visual arts, themes of peace and freedom such universal values that govern human coexistence.

The event will feature for select groups of artists united by a common element of identity, particularly this year, in a dress the women, offers 60 works of painting, graphics and photography created by 30 artists significant representatives of contemporary art of the team in Piedmont.

The works on display propose as a dominant theme, the relationship between the woman and the arts in relation to value of freedom with an explicit reference to the liberation struggle, all the experiences of "resistance" to civil rights battles aimed to gain rights and dignity denied to women, past and present.

Even the language of art in the historic struggle for the emancipation of women has allowed women the freedom to express one's ideas, feelings, emotions that even today, in the context of many ethnic realities, social and Cultural, are limited or altogether denied.

Hence the reference in the title of the event, alla pittrice Artemisia Gentileschi , donna dal grande talento artistico operante a Roma nel XVII, che riuscì a superare pregiudizi ed ostacoli sociali in un contesto storico particolarmente complesso, simbolo quindi della dignità femminile e della libertà di espressione conquistata proprio tramite l’arte.
