WHO'S AFRAID OF SUBMARINE

Among the many acts of "maquillage" a planned urban turin in the Winter Olympics of 2006, also includes the deletion from the wall of the building in Via Verdi - C.so San Maurizio, a mural depicting a submarine. The destruction of that image, became a full-time law in a trace of historical memory of the city, was certainly not a random choice. That submarine, built 20 years ago by a young punk writer, in his playful impertinence, was perhaps in the minds of administrators diligent citizens, an intolerable symbol of rebellion and a terrible threat.
This episode, also attributable to a good dose of arrogance and stupidity and certainly insignificant compared to other more serious problems that those of the bleak future of Turin, becomes the key metaphor of this new photo project.
"If one does not rebel against it disappears" is a chronicle of some of the most significant events of political life in recent years (2005-2009). Snapshots of life and daily struggle that are based upon the youth, students, political parties and movements of the Left and of the antagonist in Turin.
Like the book "The Great Dream," published in 2007, told through a series of images of political events, culture and everyday life of young people in the '70s, this new work suggests, almost 40 years later, a essential insight of experience and contemporary social transformations taking place in the urban fabric that outline the image of the "new" city. Are revealed, among thousands of faces, social customs and daily activities, the new landscapes of Turin projected into the new century and new millennium. These new images

Torino è proiettata verso trasformazioni di forma e sostanza epocali; i profondi mutamenti in atto non si manifestano solo in termini strutturali, ma soprattutto nella complessa involuzione della rete socio-economica e culturale della città .
Chiudono le grandi fabbriche, e Torino perde rapidamente la sua vocazione di città industriale;per contro, non si configurano alternative e nuove strategie di sviluppo economico, con il conseguente effetto di una devastante emorragia di posti di lavoro. Un futuro di incertezze e scarse garanzie not only employment but also for the quality and safety of work itself. A questo tragico scenario di portata internazionale fa da sfondo la drammatica crisi dei partiti della Sinistra italiana, travolti da una rovinosa esperienza di governo e by a successive electoral defeat, resulting in zero of parliamentary representation.
